Exceptionally fine claret jug by Frederick Elkington, Birmingham 1877. The mount, which is parcel gilt, is chased with griffins, this motif being repeated as the finial together with a shield. The unusual coronet forms part of the lid. The glass is extremely finely engraved also with griffins, swags and floral grapes. The handle is particularly elegant at the top a finely chased floret. Ht. 11".
